1987 - Newly hired Swanville High School Principal, Chris Dunshee approached Royal Loven to discuss the idea of forming a Dollars for Scholars chapter.  Mr. Dunshee was instrumental in forming a successful Dollars for Scholars chapter at his previous school and wanted to do the same in Swanville. They began to have weekly fundraiser brainstorming meetings.

1988 - Valentine's Day Dinner & Dance along with the proceeds from bake sales resulted in enough money to give each member of the class of 1988 that attended college approximately $180 each.

1992 - Members from the Swanville Lions Club organized, incorporated and affiliated the Swanville Community Scholarship Fund, Inc. with National Dollars for Scholars.  The Swanville Lions Club pledged $95,000 to be used to fund a permanent endowment; the interest would be awarded for scholarships in perpetuity.

1999 - The Community Scholarship Corporation obtained a charitable gambling license and began charitable gambling at Bruno's Hub Supper Club on Long Lake.  This successful partnership lasted 6 years and raised a considerable amount of funds available for scholarships to the students.
